Grand Junction has eight working breweries, and four of them are a short walk apart downtown. Here is where to drink, where to eat, and how to plan a brewery crawl.

Grand Junction has eight breweries, and four of them sit within a few blocks of Main Street: Rockslide, the original 1994 brewpub; Ramblebine, a dog-friendly taproom in a 1919 building; Trail Life, a brewpub attached to a used gear shop; and award-winning Gemini Beer Company. Kannah Creek, Mama Ree's, Base Camp Beer Works and newcomer WestCo round out the list a short drive away.

Here is what each one does best, where to eat, and how to string a few together without needing the car.

Downtown breweries you can walk between

Rockslide Brewery and Restaurant

Open since 1994, Rockslide is the town's original brewpub and still the easiest place to feed a group. Expect six rotating house beers, two patios and a menu that runs from brunch to dinner. Tuesdays bring all-you-can-eat salmon fish and chips. It sits on Main Street at the corner of 4th, right in the middle of the sculpture walk.

Ramblebine Brewing Company

Ramblebine opened in 2020 inside a 1919 building on Colorado Avenue and brews IPAs, farmhouse and Belgian ales, and fruited kettle sours on a 10-barrel system. Dogs are welcome on the patio, food trucks park out front, and you can take beer home in growlers, crowlers or cans.

Trail Life Brewing

Trail Life shares a wall with The Gear Junction, a used outdoor gear shop, so it fills up with mountain bikers and hikers in the late afternoon. The kitchen does poutine, fried pickles and pitas with vegetarian and vegan options. Stop here after a ride on the trails in our Grand Junction hiking and biking guide.

Gemini Beer Company

Gemini is the one for beer nerds. Its beers enter state and world competitions, and the lineup leans bold, like the Twin Ninja Sake Saison and the 13 percent Erebus Imperial Honey Maple Stout. It is a small taproom a couple of blocks north of Main on 7th Street.

Worth the short drive

Kannah Creek Brewing Company

Kannah Creek has been pouring on North 12th Street since 2005 and has brewed more than 46 styles, mostly American and British. It is a full brewpub with outdoor seating and 13 taps, and it is where a lot of locals take visiting family. See our Kannah Creek Brewing page for more detail.

Mama Ree's Cowboy Bar and Brewery

Mama Ree's on North Avenue pairs house-brewed beer with Texas-style barbecue: brisket, pulled pork and baby back ribs. It turns into a cowboy bar at night and stays open until 2 a.m. Thursday through Saturday. It is closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

Base Camp Beer Works

Base Camp, on Highway 6 and 50, pours 10 or more beers plus non-alcoholic options, with games, outdoor space and street food. It has a posted dog policy, and it is open daily from 11 a.m. Hours are on the Base Camp Beer Works website.

WestCo Brewing

The newest name on the list, WestCo opened in 2025 on Struthers Avenue, close to the Colorado River. The team behind Handlebar Tap House brews a Czech amber lager, a Mexican lager, a pilsner, a hazy IPA and a raspberry stout, and the kitchen runs taco specials on Tuesdays. It is closed Mondays. Details are on the WestCo Brewing site.

How to plan a Grand Junction brewery crawl

  • Start downtown and walk. Rockslide, Trail Life, Ramblebine and Gemini are close enough to visit on foot in one afternoon. Park once and leave the car.
  • Eat early. Line up a brewery with a kitchen, like Rockslide or Trail Life, as your first or second stop.
  • Use a rideshare for the outer four. Kannah Creek, Mama Ree's, Base Camp and WestCo are spread across town.
  • Check the day. Mama Ree's closes Monday and Tuesday, and WestCo closes Monday.
  • Stay close. Our Grand Junction hotels guide compares the areas to stay, including downtown.

Beyond beer: wine, cider and spirits

The Grand Valley is better known for wine than beer. If your group is split, the Palisade tasting rooms are 20 minutes east, and our Grand Junction wine country guide covers the best ones. Fruita has its own brewpubs too, and our Grand Junction vs Fruita comparison explains what the smaller town offers.
